Cleaning Your Pad
Your pad may need a cleanup some time. After all, you toss it in the dirt and jump on it. It your pad needs a refresh, here are a few pointers to make it painless as possible.
Minor cleanup: Just use a damp rag, our waterproof vinyl wipes off easily. Done!
Major cleanup: It’s totally skunked. Your cat confused it with the litter box. Spilled dinner on it. Don’t worry!
- Open the velcro seam and remove the foam (remember the order of layers so you can reassemble later).
- Fill your bathtub (or big bucket) with COLD water and a SMALL amount of laundry detergent.
- Actually battling cat pee? Add a little neutralizing pet cleaner to the water (follow their directions).
- Scrub and wrestle the empty shell in the water until it’s clean.
- Thoroughly rinse in COLD water and let air dry (or use a fan to speed up the process).
- Foam is dirty too? Wipe off the closed cell (thin top layer) with damp cloth, but we don’t recommend getting open cell foam (thick bottom layer) wet at all.
- Let the shell and foam dry entirely before reassembly.
- Now the fun part! Stuff the foam back inside. We do this for a living, so we know how much it can suck.
- Reassembly tips: Open cell layer first, then closed cell layer. Use the taco method – fold the foam in half, push it in, then unfold it. Be patient. Keep trying. It fits.
